VFW 7th District Indiana

November 16, 2018

Looking forward to working with each and everyone one of you this year.  I've been busy already.  Have completed several inspections and attended a lot of events.

The 7th District "Rocks"!  At the Fall Conference, we received several awards for being 100% reported!  So I was a very proud District President.
The "Penny" War was exciting.  I carried all the pennies you donated -- and not to my surprise, the 7th District came in First Place.  Donating $451.61 and a grand total of
$2,223.95 for the State -- all going to President Pete's "Pets Healing Vets"!  Awesome job.  And I got to wear a "Crown"!  All the loose pennies were not counted, so those will be
credited to our total for the Spring Conference...so keep those pennies coming!  The change  donated for the National Home is being counted.

Membership is our "strong hold"!  We have to recruit, retain, and recruit again.  Keep those dues coming in so we can be 100% this year.  I sure want President Pete to reach
her goals in Membership.

Reporting has been great!

See you around the State, keep up the good work, and please try to attend the District Meetings this year.

In best regards,

Harriet Figg, District President

Wow! What a busy time of year!  I just want to thank everyone for attending the District meeting at Odon in September!  The Auxiliary had 96 members present!  I also want to thank everyone for attending the visit to the National Children?s Home and Indiana Veteran?s Home.  If you have not yet visited these places, you should!

Remember, September was Suicide Awareness Month.  I hope you all took time to share resources and stories, as well as promote suicide prevention awareness. Help the U.S. Departments of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Defense let people know that preventing suicide starts with this simple act of support: Be There.

 Veterans Crisis Line

I hope you are all planning a special event at your Post for Veterans Day.  Be sure to show them how much we appreciate all they have sacrificed, and are still sacrificing  for our freedom.   Thank you for all you do!

Hello VFW Auxiliary Members

I would like to start out thanking everyone in the 7th District for what a wonderful year as your 7th District President.  To all of the District Line Officers thank you for your help and participation this year, to all of the District Chairman, most of you are were new chairman and you all did a wonderful job, and to the 7th District Auxiliary Presidents and members thank you for everything you did this year, I hope your year was just as fun as mine was.

My year started off by being installed at the 2014-2015 Department Convention, after returning home the adventure then began:  Participating in the Linton 4th of July Parade, traveling to Whiteland for a spaghetti dinner, our first District Meeting in Martinsville, National Convention in Pittsburg.  In August the 7th District campout, and school of instruction.  In September attending Washington, and Mooresville POW/MIA programs, being in the Apple Butter Parade in Spencer, then our District Meeting in Vincennes with the Mooresville Post chartering a bus to come to this meeting what a great thing, then off to the National Home.  During October inspections started:  with Spencer, Worthington, Whiteland, Loogootee, and Bloomington, went to Vincennes for their Halloween party, then fall conference.  In November more inspections:  Gosport, Crane, Ft Branch, Shoals, Odon.  In December we delivered treats to veterans at Roudebush, and one inspection Greenwood.  After the holidays January got busy once again with inspections of Washington, Brazil, the National President visit, and our District Meeting in Gosport were we celebrated the 7th being 100% in membership.  In February I had Vincennes, Martinsville, Mooresville, Sullivan inspections, we also had our District VOD and Patriot Pen Awards Ceremony in Martinsville.  In March finished up with Linton inspections, and our District meeting in Washington with our Memorial Service, what a great service.  With this letter being due we still have one more meeting in Linton with this being our District elections,  I want to ahead of time congratulate the new officers and chairman for the District and Auxiliaries and hope you all achieve everything you plan on doing.  I also want to thank the 7th District for opening their minds and welcoming our new male members, good luck to all of you.

I traveled 3,260 miles for District Programs this year!!

Thank all of you for what you do for our Veterans!

THE 7TH DISTRICT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Auxiliary Members

Well another great district meeting in Washington. There were 57 members in attendance this meeting. It is always great to see every one attending. I would like to give a great thank you for our Chaplain Julie for having a wonderful memorial service.

We had a special guest our Department Senior Vice President Donna Brogan. It was reported that the 7th District met the challenge for the Presidents Special Project, and thank you for all of the entries for the Americanism project. The winner of the wreath was Vincennes Auxiliary.

We are coming to a close of our year and I hope everyone has had a fun time in all of the programs we have been doing and thank all of you for what you do for our Veterans. Our next meeting will be elections and it has been announced we are losing a couple of our officers they decided not to continue on to the next chair, so we will be needing a Chaplain, and Conductress/Conductor, and a 1 year trustee. If anyone is wishing to run for these positions please be ready to be nominated.

I want everyone to know it has been a great year and thank all of you for what you have done. I have been so excited that the 7th district made 100% in membership, this is the first time in many years that has happened and it would not have happened without the help of all of you. So Thank You.

I hope to see you and mine and Glens testimonial dinner at Clay City on April 30, 2016. If you are planning on coming and need a ticket please contact me. Remember this is casual and the d├ęcor will be patriotic.

See all of you in May at Linton

Hello VFW Auxiliary Members

Well we have another District Meeting under our belt.  I want to thank everyone who attended, we had a total of 63 members in attendance.  I want to thank everyone who brought their buddy poppy can good donations, Cindy will be bringing them to the HVAC on Monday. Also want to thank everyone who brought the snacks for the VA hospital.  We will be going on Tuesday December 1 at 10:30 as we stated anyone who wants to go is welcome.

A motion was made to have 50/50 drawings at the district meetings until we raise the money to buy our new District Banner and any auxiliary or auxiliary member wishing to make a donation to this will be greatly appreciated.  We need $720 so far I believe we have $100.  It was also brought up to make a recommendation for money for food in our hospitality rooms at each conference and convention.  We understand some of you do not realize how much food has gone up in price and we do feed quite a few of our veterans during these functions.  An idea is to have a raffle of some sort and donate the proceeds.  It only happens 3 times a year.  Any contribution to this would be greatly appreciated.

We are coming along on our membership hope we make that 100%.  Thanks to the auxiliaries who brought dues to our meeting.  The buddy poppy project for the next meeting will be sent out to each auxiliary.  The youth chairman is having a sock drive for the January meeting for children have some youth organizations help with this project.  The presidents special project is also coming along I was told the 7th has sent the most money.  Remember this holiday season not to forget about our Veterans and their families.

Another reminder please make sure you send in your reports to both the department chairman and the district chairman would love to hear a lot of awards from the 7th at department convention to show how much the 7th does do for our veterans.  Don?t forget to mark your calendars for our National President visit January 15 and 16.  Will let everyone know the plans when I get them.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

See you in Gosport in January if not sooner

Thank all of you for what you do

Jennifer Morris, 7th District President

Hello Auxiliary Members

Just wanted to say what a great meeting in Vincennes. We had 68 members in attendance and every Auxiliary was represented. Whoo Whoo! I thought it was awesome that the Mooresville post even chartered a bus. And I do believe we survived the meeting with the male member?s lol. Glad to see them there.

I know meetings can be boring but I hope you all got some information out of the meeting. I hope that every auxiliary has something to share at our next one in Spencer. I just wanted to put some reminders in this letter we have the National Home visit coming up, the Veterans home in Lafayette on October 11, Big 10 on October 16 and 17, fall conference at the Marriott on October 23 and 24. In November do not forget Veterans Day November 11 I hope you have great plans for that day.

To touch base on what some of the district chairman had to report, remember to donate to the special project of homeless veterans, for buddy poppy she is asking that you decorate a food basket with food in it it is going to be donated to the HVAF food pantry, please bring as many goody bags that will be delivered to our veterans at the VA hospital, VOD and Patriot pen entries should be brought to the next meeting remember to have the whole form filled out with a picture of each child on the entry form, remember to include as many youth in what you do for our veterans.

I will be starting the district inspections in October, do not be surprised if some of the district line officers also attend we are all wanting to learn.

In close hope to see everyone at fall conference and at our next district meeting in Spencer on November 22. If you did not know usually in November members bring Christmas cards and pass them out feel free to do so if you want.

Thank you for all you do for our Veterans

Hello Auxiliary Members

I want to thank everyone who attended our first district meeting of the year.  I do believe we had a wonderful turnout.  I hope to see everyone at the next meeting on September 20, 2015 at Vincennes. Before the meeting we will have our annual joint POW/MIA program starting at 10:00 a.m.

I just returned from the VFW National Convention and as everyone has probably heard by now that the VFW passed the gender friendly auxiliary.  We now have a new name the Veterans of Foreign Wars to the United States of America Auxiliary.  I know everyone is disappointed in this decision.  But as of August 21, 2015 we will be allowing men into the auxiliary.  They will be considered new members.  National said they would be sending the information out in two weeks to explain how to implement this change.  I know this will be a big adjustment for both parties, but I hope everyone remembers why we are members of this organization to work for our veterans.

I hope to see a lot of you at the school of instruction on August 21 and 22 at the Marriott in Indianapolis. On Friday evening they will have the treasurer training starting at 6:00.  Saturday the chairman programs and the membership kickoff will start at 10:00 a.m.  We also will be having our annual District Campout at Lake Melissa on August 14 to the 16th like stated before even if you don?t camp come out Saturday night for dinner and karaoke.  It is a $10.00 registration fee that includes a t shirt, remember to bring a side dish and your place setting.

Please remember if you need any help with anything please do not hesitate to call that is what we are here for to help.

Thank You for all you do for our Veterans

Hello Ladies

Well we are going to be off to a new year. I want to thank everyone for their support. I will be having a few new faces this year as chairman and a few other positions. I felt we needed to get away from the ?we have always done it this way? attitude. I hope all of you give these ladies your support. They will be in a learning mode also. I hope we can all work together for our veterans this year.

We have the Department President Sharron Barger from our District this year also so I would love to see every auxiliary 100% in membership and also in reporting. If any of you have any questions on how to fill out reports please do not hesitate to ask for help.

I want to congratulate all of the Ladies who are from our District and have positions in the Department also, hope you have a fun time with your programs.

Hope to see everyone at the District meetings and bring your ideas and let everyone know what your auxiliary is doing for our veterans.
