Greeting Brothers and Sisters!
Can someone find the brake and slow time down so that I may catch up! I have already missed my deadline to get this out on the first of the month so I am going to go an October/November newsletter. I would like to thank everyone for your support as the District is 100% reported in Community Service. Continue to submit your reports on a monthly basis.
Since the last letter on the 4th of September; I have attended the NSWC Crane POW/MIA Ceremony on the 14th, Crane Golf Scramble on the 16th, District Meeting in Odon on the 17th, Indiana Day at the National Home for Children on the 24th, Indiana Day at the Indiana Veterans Home on the 1st of October. Both the National Home for Children and the Indiana Veterans Home were great trips. If you have gone before or have never gone these are great places to go to see your money at work. I also attended the State Campout in Rushville on 4-7 October 2017.
The Fall Conference at the Marriott East Hotel in Indianapolis on 27-29 October is coming up quickly. If you Post has already donated please contact me so that we may make arrangements to pick you donation before the conference. Remember we have the best hospitality room in the state and it is run on donations only. So please pay so that we can play!
Also, the deadline for Teacher of the Year, Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen are fast approaching for all entries need to be at the Post by 31 October 2017. Your judging needs to be completed and packages turned in at the District Meeting in Spencer on the 19th of November. A completed package consists of the entry form, the essay or speech on CD/Flash drive, a photo of the participant, and all signatures. If you turn in an incomplete package your Post may not get credit for it.
Veteran’s Day is coming up in November and please remember that this is a great time to do buddy poppy and membership drives. Also make sure that your Post records all your activities in the Community Service Report.
As mentioned before the District Meeting will be held on the 19th of November at Spencer. This is change from the original list of meeting dates due to a scheduling conflict. The Spencer Post is planning events on the Saturday before the meeting and more information will be sent out later.
Lastly, I need to talk about membership for as of the 12th of October the District stands at 76.92% and is 8th of 11 Districts in the Department. We need 902 members to get to 100%. That may sound like a lot, but we have 11of 20 Post that need 30 members or less to be 100%. So please contact your members and ask them to pay their dues!
Thank you and I hope to see you somewhere soon!
Keith Rohloff
7th District Commander
