Greetings Comrades,
Where does the time go? Just yesterday we had our District meeting in Crane and now it’s the 1st of September. I have attended the National Convention in New Orleans, 9 Post meetings, the School of Instruction, and the District Campout. My schedule for September is again full. Upcoming events for this month are; NSWC Crane POW/MIA Ceremony on the 14th, Crane Golf Scramble on the 16th, District Meeting in Odon on the 17th, Indiana Day at the National Home for Children on the 24th, and the Indiana Day at the Indiana Veterans Home on the 1st of October.
The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane is hosting a POW/MIA ceremony on the 14th @ 1100. If you are interested in attending please contact for I need to submit you information to Security to get you on base. We meet at the Crane Post at 1000 and carpool in because of limited parking.
The Crane Golf Scramble is on Saturday the 16th of September at Hidden Hills Golf Course in Owensburg. Cost is $200 a team, shotgun start @ 0900 and chance at $10,000 if you get a hole in one sponsored by the Crane Credit Union.
The Odon Post is hosting the September District Meeting on the 17th. I have sent maps and flyer of events out to the Post. A POW/MIA ceremony will be held at the Odon Community Center at 1000. This is the same building that the Auxiliary will meet for their meeting. After the ceremony, the VFW meeting will be held at the Odon Post. Check out their flyer for events and info. They have blocked rooms in Washington for anyone that would like to spend the evening.
The is a bus trip leaving the Greenwood Post 5864 on Saturday September 24th @ 0900 for anyone who would like to go the Indiana Day at the National Home for Children. The Post will be serving breakfast before the bus departs. Also, we are looking for donations (cash, beer, liquor and gaming) for the trip. If your Post would like to donate, please bring it the District meeting.
The Indiana Day at the Indiana Veterans Home is Sunday October 1st in West Lafayette.Beside, these planned events; I will be making my rounds and attending 6 Post meetings this month. I hope that all the Post have purchased your buddy poppies, your Quartermaster and Gaming Bonds (if you have a private insurance policy for these, please make a copy and sent it to Department Headquarters so that they may give you credit for it), sent in your July 2017 Trustee Audit to the Department, and have submitted a Community Service Report (reporting for the year started on 1 May 2017) to Mike Curl (7th District Chairperson) and Becky Murphy (Dept of Indiana VFW Chairperson).
Lastly, if you or your Post is doing a drive for the victims of Hurricane Harvey, please report it in your community service report and let us know so that others may contribute to the cause. Thanks and I hope to see you somewhere down the road!

7th District Commander
