Comrades, 

We just completed the Department of Indiana VFW School of Instruction. Here are

a few notes of interest in case you didn’t have the opportunity to attend. New this

year is a change in the Bonding of the Post. The Quartermaster Bond will cover all

Post assets except for your Gaming Account. When you apply for your bond with

the VFW, add all accounts minus your gaming and that is the total you will want for

your Quartermaster Bond. This Bond is a Positional Bond so if you happen to

change Quartermasters during the year the new person will be covered by this

bond. Club managers and gambling operations must be bonded separately. A

Quartermaster that is handling any gaming accounts is not covered under the

Quartermaster Bond. They must be covered under the Club Manager Bond. This

bond is in the name of the person not the position and is not transferable. This in

turn means that your Quartermaster needs 2 bonds to cover the funds of the Post.

With the approval of the By-law amendment at the National Convention that all

Men’s Auxiliaries will be disbanded by 31 December 2016; your Post should inform

your Men’s Auxiliary members that they need to apply for membership into the

Auxiliary and show proof of eligibility. If you Men’s Auxiliary has accepted any dues

this year (July 1st and after) those dues must be refunded. Your Post should

complete this disbandment sooner than the 31 December 2016 deadline. Get those

members into your auxiliary, get all accounts settled and closed, and send the

Charter to the Department of Indiana VFW.

Please take a look at your inspection paperwork and get everything together for

Post inspections will be starting soon. Make sure you have proof of eligibility for

ALL officers on file!
